Bob Lutz wrote and article for Forbes entitled America The Slovenly: Dressing Down And Blimping Up. He details how he feels about how his fellow Americans dress en mass. Some of his comments are a bit extreme for us, but we get his point. When did it become okay to dress down for special occasions? Going to the theater, weddings, and graduations are occasions when we would expect people to wear something nice, but that is not always the case, and more often than we like the person that “dressed up” is out of place. Even in the office environment business casual looks more like casual than business. Why are polo shirts business casual?
What do you think? You should be able to dress how you want, when you want, but we think you should also want to dress for the occasion.
It’s not just a brand. It’s a lifestyle.
